Live Music Colin Cutler & Friends

  • Oden Brewing Company 804 West Gate City Boulevard Greensboro, NC, 27403 United States (map)

Colin Cutler's back in the Gate City with a band for the first time in a couple of years. The COVID-19 pandemic brought him back home from dragging his banjo all over Europe, and you might have seen him playing on the street corner of Elm and McGee during these fall weekends.

He'll be joined by old friends Tom Troyer (of Farewell Friend) and Jack Gorham, who will also be playing solo sets of their original music.

Oden Brewing has a spacious yard area with outdoor stage and heaters at the tables. Bundle up, bring your masks (and dogs are welcome), and the beer is great!

A bit about the music--pulling from Appalachian oldtime, Piedmont blues, and Dust Bowl storytelling songs, Colin's a banjo- and guitar-slinging songwriter with 2 albums and an EP under his belt. The music ranges from tragic to joy-filled to hilarious and twisted, with inspirations from Flannery O'Connor, medieval ballads, and his own misadventures.

He cut his musical teeth while in grad school at UNC-G before the Army took him overseas, lived in England for a year and a half, and taught in Romania. He's had songs on WUAG and WQFS, as well as stations in Virginia, Ireland, and BBC Introducing, but his best stories are probably about that one time in Kentucky.
